On April 6, 2026, the Government issued Decree 134/2026/ND-CP, which amends and supplements a number of articles of Decree 17/2023/ND-CP providing details for some articles and implementation measures of the Law on Intellectual Property regarding copyright and related rights (Decree 134). Taking effect on April 9, 2026, Decree 134 has several notable provisions on the protection of copyright and related rights in cases involving artificial intelligence (AI) systems that enterprises should pay attention to.

Currently, the Ministry of Public Security is leading the drafting of a Decree on administrative sanctions for violations in the fields of cybersecurity and personal data protection. The Draft Decree has been developed amid increasing cybersecurity risks, incidents, attacks, and personal data infringements in Viet Nam. This article analyses some significant contents to be noted.

On March 31, 2026, the Government issued Decree 96/2026/ND-CP providing details and guidelines for implementation of certain provisions of the Law on Investment (Decree 96), effective from the date of issuance, replacing Decree 31/2021/ND-CP. This Decree introduces and refines numerous provisions, offering greater procedural flexibility for investment activities while also clarifying market access conditions and targeted investment incentive policies. On March 31, 2026, the Government issued Decree 102/2026/ND-CP (Decree 102) amending and supplementing a number of provisions of Decree 75/2019/ND-CP on administrative sanctions against violations in the field of competition. To enhance compliance in the field of fire prevention and fighting, rescue and salvage, and to ensure consistency with the applicable legal framework on fire prevention and fighting, rescue and salvage, on March 6, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decree 69/2026/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of provisions of Decree 106/2025/ND-CP on administrative sanctions in this field.

In recent years, both globally and in Viet Nam, there has been a sharp increase in non-traditional intellectual property assets, giving rise to the need to protect such assets and to expand the concept of intellectual property (IP) as well as protection mechanisms for high-value digital assets such as algorithms, artificial intelligence (AI) software, business models, and user interface designs. In response to this reality, on December 10, 2025, the National Assembly promulgated the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Propertywhich takes effect from April 1, 2026.
