New regulations on statutory minimum wages paid to employees working under labor contracts

On June 30, 2024, the Government promulgated Decree 74/2024/ND-CP prescribing statutory minimum wages paid to employees working under labor contracts, thereby changing the regulations on the hourly and monthly statutory minimum wages, at the same time, readjusted some areas applying the minimum wage according to Regions I, II, III, IV Upon its effectiveness, Decree 74/2024/ND-CP will replace the previous Decree 38/2022/ND-CP prescribing statutory minimum wages paid to employees working under labor contracts.

Some new points about contractor selection

On February 27, 2024, the Government issued Decree 24/2024/ND-CP providing guidelines for the Law on Bidding on contractor selection. This Decree repeals some legal documents and regulations related to bidding and centralized procurement, including Decree 63/2014/ND-CP providing details for the implementation of some articles of the Law on Bidding on contractor selection.

Some new regulations of the Law on Bidding 2023

After more than 9 years of implementation, the provisions of the Law on Bidding 2013 have revealed many limitations and shortcomings when implemented in practice, and are no longer suitable for the current socio-economic situation. Therefore, to improve the regulations on bidding, on June 23, 2023, the National Assembly passed the Law on Bidding 2023, replacing the Law on Bidding 2013 and taking effect on January 1, 2024.

The report applies the methodology of the World Bank’s Doing Business report, analyzing court operations from the perspective of businesses in relation to contract enforcement. It identifies several shortcomings that need to be addressed in order to make court operations more effective and business-friendly, thereby contributing to Viet Nam’s economic development.
