On September 25, 2021, the Government of Viet Nam promulgated the Decree 85/2021/ND-CP amending and supplementing certain contents of Decree 52/2013/ND-CP on e-commerce (Decree 85). Some noteworthy contents of Decree 85 for enterprises providing e-commerce services or running business on e-commerce platforms are as follows:
(i) Regconizing officially social networking sites as a type of e-commerce exchange from January 1, 2022;
(ii) Specifying more rigorously requirements for product and service information on e-commerce websites for selling (which is created by an entity to trade its products);
(iii) Supplementing regulations on the responsibility to settle consumer complaints against merchants;
(iv) Supplementing brand-new legal basis for e-commerce activities by foreign traders and organizations.
